Are gadgets important to your family ?
We are a multiple gadget owning home.
Due to the nature of my blogging work, my husband being an IT consultant and my son being a 9 year old technical whiz kid we have gadgets. We have many gadgets, laptops, iphones, ipads, tablets, mp3 players, kindles of various kinds.
Don’t worry before you think I am polluting my sons brain with technical overload he reads about 5 books week and does lots of sport too and yes he has time to play 🙂
I allow a maximum of 1 hour screen time a day (including TV time in this) unless the kids are watching a movie. This feels right and on some school nights there may be no or even less screen time than that. My kids accept this. They also accept that I keep hold of the gadgets and they have to agree their timings with me before they use them.
I know everyone parents differently and all kids are different this just happens to work for us. Some researchers agree it can be a good thing.
We like technology and it can be such a great educational tool we put eBooks on the ipad and maths apps on to. they listen to a diversity of music we even look up facts and skype
From a work perspective such gadgets mean we can work on the go and this gives us more time to be with our kids rather than less e.g I can take them to swimming classes and tennis rather than a childminder and so quick bits of work on the go. This does have to be managed carefully though.
Insurance for multiple gadgets is a must have for us we just wouldn’t be without them for work or for play.
I think technology gets a bad reputation when it comes to kids – I think iPads and mobile apps can help both parent and child! There are some great education/learning games which can occupy children so parents can get some housework done!
Awesome, I have a hp spectre 360 but it still has issues. But that might be because of windows 10
