I’m so excited I can barely contain myself. You know me, always trying to save a penny and determined never to pay more than I have to on my groceries. Well, I have a little secret that just helped me save more than £20 on my shopping and it was totally effortless. I did consider keeping it all to myself then I thought, why be selfish, lets share the love around!
It’s called the Companion app and it is just that, a Companion. It discreetly accompanies you while you shop online for your groceries, like normal, checking over all the items in your basket and comparing the prices in other supermarkets. As you add each item to your regular basket you can see the price and offers in other stores. You start filling your basket and the app discreetly does the same shop for you in 4 other supermarkets so at the end you can see if your exact same basket is cheaper in another store. The best bit is that you can actually switch to another store and your same filled basket follows you! No effort involved at all!
I was shopping on the Tesco site and by the time I got to the end of my shop the Companion app showed me that my same basket was cheaper in Asda, so I decided to change stores! I clicked on ‘switch store’ and it transferred my filled Tesco basket to mySupermarket, who runs the app. Then, with only 2 clicks, I sent my same filled basket directly to Asda for payment and checkout!
If you’re one of those people who insist on shopping in the same supermarket every week then this app has a special little treat for you as well. There is a ‘swap and save’ function that takes your Tesco basket and scours the Tesco site for cheaper alternatives within Tesco themselves. So you can be loyal to your regular supermarket and still make sure you’re getting the best deals.
For regular mySupermarket users like me, this price checker app is the smartest thing to date. It pops up on the side of your regular screen, compares prices for you, acts as a personal adviser and then and then helps you complete your order.
Why not try it and let me know what you think?
