Do you know where to find your insurance details
Okay, so I am going to ask you a question. Where are your insurance documents? Are they neatly filed away in a correctly labelled box file ready for you to lay your hands on in 2 seconds flat?
If the answer is yes, well done .
If the answer is, ‘not really sure, probably in a box/pile of papers somewhere’ then don’t worry you are in the majority.
So what about me, thrifty blogger that I am? Of course I am going to have financial papers neatly stored and accessible right?
As you can see below, my systems are quite chaotic. I live in hope my insurance documents are somewhere in there..I am just not quite sure where!
I blame this on a few things:
1) being really busy
2) being a bit lazy with paperwork
3) having too many separate bits of paper work, kids drawings, school reports, bills etc.
So what is the solution?
Sometimes you really need to get your insurance documents quickly. I can think of a few scenarios…flood, fire, car breakdown, roof falling in, lost luggage. You don’t always have the time or are not always in the right place to go searching through mounds of paperwork. Sometimes you won’t even be at home.
What’s needed is a centralised hub where you can find all you information with a click of the button, know what insurance you are covered for and who to call. You could also do with being notified a few weeks before your MOT, travel insurance, home insurance and car insurance expire so you are never uncovered.
Sound like genius solution?
I think so too and it is about to happen!
Oh yes – I went to an event last night with Compare the Market and they unveiled a brilliant new project that is hopefully being launched at the end of August. It will be a centralised hub for your insurance details.
The project will be called
and the idea behind it is really simple and pretty genius all at the same time.
Simples will be an online hub that holds all your insurance documents and information in one place and lets you access it at the touch of a button.
You can ask it questions like ‘am I covered for car breakdown or winter sports and what’s the phone number for road side assistance?’
It can notify you that you MOT is due in a fortnight or your travel insurance is about to expire too. But best of all for me it holds all you documents and phone numbers and the main details of your policy all in one place and you just dont’t have to worry. It’s also speedy quick to access from just about anywhere.
Now that would make me feel
and a little bit more grown up than my previous messy filing system does.
You will be able to scan or photograph your original documents up to the hub or Simples can whizz through to your provider and access your documents themselves. You don’t even have to be a Compare the Market customer, which I think is rather fab.
So what do you think?
I had a go on the Simples insurance policy portal and found it super simple and really easy to use.
I will tell you more about it when it is properly launched but just wanted to give you the heads up. What a fabulous solution to a really common ‘I can’t find my documents’ problem.
I love it!
Have a go with Simples
The system is still in Beta (tweaking phase) at the moment, but you can give it a go if you fancy ….here’s what you need to do:
- Visit simples.uk.com
- Sign up for Simples with your Comparethemarket.com login
- Add a car, travel and/or home insurance policy
- Use the SMS chat widget to speak to and ask questions of your policy
I loved having a play with this and I am sure you will too.
