Guess what I am saving up for?

I normally talk about saving money for something essential or practical but today I am going to break all my own rules.

I am going to tell you about my charity shop find and I am going to tell you what I am secretly saving up for too.

Nope it’s not something new for the kids, not even for a family holiday. I’m not saving for their future weddings or even for their first car or a trip to Disney. No I’m not saving to pay our bills for  for next Christmas. I am saving for me (and my other half ) to have a special treat.

Last week at a lovely little charity shop near me I say w this lovely terramundi. It cost just £3 and already has some coins (I have no idea how much because I can’t see) inside.  I snapped it up. It was a bargain and I do have something to save for…

Terramundi are clay pots with no openings to get your money out and only one to put it in! The idea is you keep feeding them with coins until they are full. Every time you have a new one, you write down a wish, and put that in with your first coin.Once full they have to be broken to open and hopefully your wish will come true.

It is traditional to spend the money from within the pot on ‘good things.’

So I have wished for something special just for me and my other half for once. A really lovely treat.

Do you want to know what I am saving for….

A murder mystery day out on the British Pullman the sister train to the Orient Express. I love lovely trains, adore murder mysteries and would love to do this. I  have always wanted to and sometimes it is important to make your own dreams come true.

I would also adore to go to Venice on the Oreint Express but maybe we will leave that for next year!

In my first coin goes.

This could end up being a very luxurious charity shop find.

Funny that it got donated along with money already inside – I wonder if the original owner’s wish is in there too?! Good luck with your saving

My son was given one, he didn’t really get it. Once it had a few coins in – he smashed: it just to see!
This is such a warming post, I can hear your voice. I love it’s something special for the two of you. Well earned treat. May all your wishes come true xx
