Looking for a cheap holiday in 2013?

Holidays are on my mind so much at the moment. I like long light bright days and sand  and a bit of sunshine. Freezy, icy slippy snow isn’t for me. Brrr.  I don’t care how pretty it looks, it just makes me want to stay indoors with a hot chocolate, a good book and Micheal Buble.

We are having bits and bobs done to the house this year so despite saving hard we will be looking for around for good ideas for cheap holidays  and I would people to share theirs in my comments section. Do you have any great tips?

Last year for our summer holiday we had a short break at Butlins. I went with my two kids and my Aunty and we went to Skegness.  I had all sorts of expectations from watching Hi di Hi (yes I am that old!) and I am pleased to report I did not find one knobbly knee contest going on.

Butlins, Skegness

In fact Butlins quite surprised me. It had its own private beach 9which was very nice) and it was blessedly fee to use. There was a fair (with many free rides). There was a  cinema with bang up to date films on. There were free and excellnt shows each evening and one evening we  saw an amazing circus style act whilst were were there.

There were some extra rather fabulous activities like zorbing and a climbing wall you could pay for but there were also many more free things to do which  had all been included int he price. We went swimming a few times and it was a terrific pool, really impressive.

One of my favourite bits of Butlins was the lovely children’s park. It was just a simple wooden park but big enough and fun enough that the kids played their for ages and it lots of seating for us worn out grown ups! I  love it when they just play in a natural setting and nothing needs to light up and flash. There was also giant deck chair that really made me laugh, the kids loved to sit in it and looked adorable.  All good old fashioned fun with plenty to do no matter how much spending money you had. We had a great time on our short break.

So what are you plans in 2013?

I like Butlins, we did Center Parcs a few years ago but that was far more expensive and I’m not good on a bicycle!
