I am on a bit of a mission to uncommercialise Valentines day. It does not just have to be a profit making day for big business it can actually be a very simple heartfelt homemade kind of day. Yes I agree it should not just come around once a year and we should tell people we love them regularly but…he doesn’t hurt to have a day that reminds us to show how we feel in my book.
I think it is nice for children to embrace this fay about love too.
It makes a nice children’s Valentines Day activity to encourage your child to think about something lovely they could do for someone they love. You could discuss some ideas with them then and encourage them to write down what they have come up with. If they are too young simply write a note on their behalf and pop it in a valentine card they have made.
It may be a promise to daddy to play snap with him or a promise to grandma to give her a big cuddle. It’s a really good idea to each them early that love is about giving time and not just ‘stuff.’
They will adore delivering their love notes and what treasures these will be to keep.
My nieces have decorated little boxes and blown their kisses inside to give as little gifts before. What could be better. Little card heart boxes ranges from £1 at places such as hobby craft and are lots of fun to glitter, pompom and paint.
