Must haves for your baby’s bedroom

Must haves for your baby’s bedroom

When it comes to must haves for your baby’s bedroom it’s useful to look at ways to keep costs down and practical considerations high on the agenda. You can still aim for a beautiful and stylish bedroom too. It just requires a little planning.

Changing tables

A changing table that is also a chest of drawers like this is a great combination and will save you both money and floor space. It will also save your back and your knees. These don’t need to be new so do check out eBay and local Facebook selling pages) to make your money stretch further.

Art

Simple art is often best for a baby’s room and you may want to save money and really personalise their room by making it yourself? Family photos make great art work as do prints of baby’s feet. Let your imagination flourish and style it up as you wish. I love peelable wall stickers these can be a very inexpensive but striking option. I love this one.

A lovely cot

Your baby will spend a lot of time in their cot so you need a good quality cot that is really safe. A new mattress is really important for safety too as is a secure and well-built cot.  Cots can be recycled in lots of ways after your baby has grown out of it so do choose one you really love. Have look here for ideas on cot upcycling.

Neutral Walls

I have always liked to keep my baby’s room bright and light and have tended to favour plain walls that can be easily adapted as they grow. I like to use stickers or art work to add interest to a room rather than changing colours. This is of course entirely personal but I would advise not creating too much work for yourself as busy parents – you want a paint job you can live with for a while!

 Safe windows

Windows are so important aren’t they? We want lots of light in a baby’s room and we want lots of dark in a room too so a great black out blind with safety is an important consideration. But what else do we need to think about in a baby’s room? As always it is safety first.

I have just been perusing Solstro’s buying guide for bedrooms where they recommend a PVC roof window with Safety Glass. Should the window get broken for any reason shards will never fall into the room, due to the safety glass feature, so this is a perfect choice for a child’s room.

Can you think what else you might need to consider in regard to must haves for a baby room. Do leave me a comment if you have anything to add.
