The Nottingham Playhouse has always been part of my life and it is lovely it is now part of my children’s. We got to go and see Grandpa in my Pocket there a couple of weeks ago and it as really spot on for little fans of the TV show.
My daughter loved it.
More thrilling for me and exciting too for her we got to have a backstage tour with some other Nottingham bloggers! The playhouse is 50 years old this year and rightly proud of its heritage,
Wow it was pretty amazing . We saw the backdrop for the Pantomime being painted and learned it take 4 weeks ! We saw the hats and some costumes for the Pantomime dame and we saw where all the props are made.
Lovely to know how much is created locally and how much is shared between theatres. Really brings the community element alive.
We were told all about the stunning sky mirror and iconic feature now in Nottingham that adorn the entrance to the Playhouse
Most thrillingly (is that a word? ) we got to go up and stage when they actors had finished and have a good look around at the props and the set and see how everything is set up. Fascinating stuff. I almost decided to ditch the blogging career and become an actress.
The playhouse is a magic place for kids.Lots of youth theatre and workshops throughout the summer too!
Coming in August to Nottignham Playhouse is Aliens Love Underpants. We love that book so we’ll definately be back for that! Just £10 a seat!
