Save money by getting married abroad

Save money by getting married abroad – buty how much?

Royal wedding fever is in full swing, with Prince William and Kate Middleton set to marry in less than a month’s time.  However you don’t have to be royalty to feel like a princess on your wedding day; like this bride in her video diary, by choosing to marry abroad you can enlist the services of a professional planner so that all you need to worry about before you go is picking your perfect dress and remembering the passports!

A recent study by consumer research group Mintel showed that 18% of Britons chose to tie the knot abroad last year, and there are plenty of good reasons why…

It’s cheaper:  In 2010 the average wedding abroad costs £6,585, whilst the average wedding in Britain costs nearly £20,000 – that’s a £13,415 saving! Just think what else you could do with that money… (it would hugely help towards time off with ayour baby for example)

By getting married at home it’s harder to limit the number of guests that you invite, going abroad makes it much easier to invite only the people that you really want to share your day with making it a truly intimate experience.   Sandals recently conducted their own survey and found that almost 50% of people chose to get married abroad because of unwanted friends and family (and the weather MUST play a big part)

Getting married should be fun and should not land you in lots of debt.

Save money by getting married abroad and save the stress too.

Yes it is a lot cheaper abroad. Mine cost lots and I now can think of so many other ways I could have spent the money. It can still be special and you probably guarantee the weather more.

We considered getting married abroad but we ended up going to Gretna Green which was a lovely day and it cost a couple of hundred pound for everything including a small reception for 20 people who came with us. It’s such a lovely place as well – I’d def recommend it x

Great idea! Other money saving tips we used were:
    1. Make your reception decorations from ideas on Pinterest
    2. Buy your wedding bands from http://www.TungstenWorld.com (sister tipped me off to this site)
    3. Drink tickets (if having open bar)
