I haven’t been too well recently and as a result the simple things in life have become increasingly important to me.
So this February why don’t you enrich your life by taking on board these 3 very simple ideas.
Breathe deeply
We take our breath for granted so often don’t we but each and every breath is life giving and important, Deep abdominal breathing encourages full oxygen exchange — that is, the beneficial trade of incoming oxygen for outgoing carbon dioxide. , this type of breathing slows the heartbeat and can lower or stabilize blood pressure. It can make you feel less anxious and calm. Yoga is great for teaching deep breathing Here’s a little post with some simple breathing exercises you can do by yourself.
Get outside even if it’s nippy
It’s also a good idea to get outside no matter what the weather and take big gulps of fresh air and walk. You will feel so much better for fresh air on you skin and for a stretch og the legs even if it is just ten minutes around the block or in your lunch break.
Be grateful
I don’t mean you have to write down your three best things each day or send a thank you note to everyone who has ever be kind to you. What I do mean is deep in your heart be quietly grateful for each and every day of your life.
Snowdrops
Signs of growth and life are starting to peep back through and Spring is round the corner. Look everywhere for these signs of life they are amazing and wonderful and inspiring.
I wish you a beautiful month full of splendid, simple things. Do share with me any simple ideas for a rich life that you have too.

I adore snow drops, they always give me the cheering thought that spring is on it’s way. I always try to notice the good as well as the bad. We always recall the time the heavens opened on us, or when the lights changed at the wrong moment- I try to remember the times the sun shone and the lights were green at the perfect moment!
Breathing sounds obvious doesn’t it but it is so important. After having a child I also really appreciate a moment to stop and have a hot (actually hot) drink! I hope you are feeling much better soon and that the sun starts to shine so you can sit in the garden and feel some warmth on your skin. Much love and healing energy xx
I love this and particularly the first one. Breathe Deeply. There is a alot to be said for that. I gave birth at home, without any midwives by purely relaxing and concentrating on my breathing ….. its a powerful thing!
I agree with the getting outside tip, some fresh air always cheers me up, even if I don’t believe it before I step out the door!
Glad to hear signs of spring are just around the corner for you. In the NE United States, we are having a really cold spell. Lots of snow and tempetures in the teens or even below zero. Phil the groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter.
I definitely agree with you on the getting outside. There is nothing worse than being stuck inside. Even if the weather is bad I still like to get out for a walk.
Really really good advice here – we do take our breath for granted, you’re so right. Hope you’re OK xxx
very wise words as always lovely lady
Beautiful post, I needed something like this. I am stuck in this funk! x
I love the changes of the season and especially spring when you see the new growth all around you. I know you have had it tough in the UK but there is nothing like a good brisk walk in the winter sunshine
I get cabin fever really easily so it gets to me when the weather is cold and nasty so quickly. I love the first signs of the snowdrops peeping through. x
I think we very often forget to be grateful… we moan a lot and rant, but is it really so awful…
Good points. I agree with you totally on getting outside. I try to every day even if rubbish weather as it is so good for your head x
A very motivational and inspiring post – I am going to pin. Thank you for sharing.
When I started reading this post, I immediately began to breathe more deeply! It’s great to have little reminders of how to make sure we stay grounded. Thanks for writing such a lovely post.
Very good advice. Thoughts to carry with us every day!
Such wise advice. I noticed some snowdrops today and they do always make me smile, it is true that the first signs of spring do cheer you up. Another thing I would add is to always keep your head up as that helps too.
We have been getting out more, despite the weather and taking the dogs for a country walk at the weekend. Cheers me up no end to see their waggy tails, so happy at all the new smells.
Lovely post x
I love snowdrops – hoping for a break in the weather so we can get out and see some
i need to remind myself to be grateful more often. and getting out definitely helps. A lot.
I love snowdrops! For me, getting outdoors is key. Even if just for 10-minutes, the fresh air makes all the difference. Clears the cobwebs. Hope you are ok x
Snowdrops are so beautiful – I keep hoping I’ll come across some.
Oh, Becky, you’re so lovely. You’re in my thoughts and I’m grateful to have you as a friend x
Becky, I’m so sorry you’re laid up and I completely understand how the appreciation on basic getting up and about can be missed so much and taken for granted when we can do it. There’s nothing like breathing to calm the mind – and all your points are lovely – thank you. I wish you as speedy a recovery as possible.
Today I did this all. I was feeling so overwhelmed with stress that I needed to just give myself some time. I went outside, enjoyed the nippy weather, walked a bit and just gave myself some quiet time with no responsibilities.
